Deanna Kaye Hall-Kieffaber, 74, of Greencastle, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Deanna was born in Hendricks County to Miriam B. Brown and Ernest L. Hall on April 16, 1946. After her parents divorced, she spent some of her youth living with kind relatives, for which she was grateful.

She was a 1964 graduate of Reelsville High School, where she met David Ray Kieffaber. In November 1966, they were married and soon moved to Indianapolis, where they raised their three children, Audra Blythe, Brian Casey and Megan Alaine. In 2003 Megan married Steve Shufflebarger, DDS.

Deanna “Dee” was active in their schools, teaching in her church and as a volunteer in her community and a 4-H leader. She studied at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum and conducted guided tours there as a docent. She was a charter member of Kappa Delta Phi sorority in Putnam County.

She usually worked full time, but said her part-time job was in construction since there was always repairs and remodeling being done at their house.

In 2007, she retired as administrative assistant from the American Academy of Osteopathy. In 2009, she and David moved back to Putnam County. They always welcomed family and friends to enjoy their pond.

She is survived by her husband David, their children, and a sister, Barbara Kendall (Donald).

She was preceded in death by her mother Miriam and father Ernest.

Never blessed with grandchildren, she adored those of her extended family. She was an aunt to Patricia L. Kirkman (Vern), Randy S. Kendall, Christopher Duell (Kim), Susan Duel, Jeffery S. Dixon and Lisa Hughes (Larry), as well as a great-aunt.

In recent years, she enjoyed playing Mahjong with her friends.

In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations should be made to the Humane Society of Putnam County.

Graveside services for family will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5 at Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery.
