Thursday, August 6, 2020

CLOVERDALE -- Traffic on U.S. 231 under Interstate 70 will be down to one 14-foot lane in each direction beginning Monday, Aug. 10, the Indiana Department of Transportation has announced.

The traffic pattern change is scheduled to last through Nov. 20. Weather permitting, there will also be overnight closures on U.S. 231 in both directions beginning Friday, Aug. 14 at 9 p.m. through 6 a.m. the following morning.

The overnight closures will occur for eight consecutive nights to allow for bridge demolition work.

All ramps at the interchange for Exit 41, the Cloverdale exit, will remain open.

The U.S. 231 southbound detour will follow I-70 westbound to State Road 243 southbound to I-70 eastbound.

The detour for U.S. 231 northbound will be I-70 eastbound to Little Point Road northbound to I-70 westbound.

The project was awarded to Force Construction Co. for $6.6 million. The I-70 bridges over U.S. 231 at Exit 41 will be rebuilt. Construction is expected to be completed by late fall of next year.
