County Jail

Seven people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 11:04 p.m. Kaleb G. Cooksey, 21, Plainfield, was taken into custody on a Hendricks County warrant.

• At 1:02 p.m. Roger P. Lopez, 50, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail for possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of marijuana and two counts of possession of paraphernalia.

Tuesday

• At 11:43 p.m. Julie R. Mejia, 31, Cloverdale, was booked in for driving while intoxicated and driving without ever receiving a license.

• At 10:49 a.m. Frank H. Ralston, 77 Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on a warrant for harassment and invasion of privacy.

• At 9:45 a.m. Melissa D. Clark, 48, Terre Haute, was taken into custody on a warrant for driving with a BAC of .15 or more, driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Monday

• At 5:15 p.m. Anthony Michael Jones, 24, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 10:36 a.m. Jeremy Mark Pruett, 38, Waynetown, was booked in for nonsupport of a dependent child.

City Police

Two recent speeding citations were issued by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 7:54 a.m. last Friday, Cheryl Todd, 54, Brazil, was ticketed by Officer Darrel Bunten.

Stopped on State Road 240 near Ascena, Todd was cited for 81 mph in a 55-mph zone.

• At 7:53 a.m. last Friday, Edward Chavez, 26, Indianapolis, was cited by Officer Bunten.

Stopped on State Road 240 near Ballard Lane, Chavez was ticketed for 80 mph in a 55-mph zone.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 12:42 p.m. on Monday, Misty Caldwell, 54, Crawfordsville, was turning east onto County Road 600 North from County Road 600 East in a 2000 Buick LeSabre.

Caldwell told Deputy Tanner Brown that as she did so, the car started pulling toward the ditch. The vehicle entered the ditch and came to a stop when it struck a downed tree.

Brown estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000. The car was towed.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to two recent dispatches:

• At 11:12 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to 1025 S. Fillmore Rd. for an outside trash fire. Firefighters arrived at 11:20 and the fire was extinguished. The city burn ordinance was explained to the homeowner. GFD went back into service at 11:30 p.m.

• At 1:32 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 904 E. Washington St. for a carbon monoxide alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:35 and monitored the property, but could not find a source for the alarm. GFD went back into service at 1:46 a.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed four medical assists and had two disregards.
