Due to coronavirus restrictions and safety precautions, this year’s annual Fillmore Chicken Barbecue has been canceled.

Terry Wood of the Fillmore Community Volunteer Fire Department announced the decision during the Fillmore Town Council’s regular meeting Thursday.

This year will be the first time in its 60-year history that the fire department’s major fundraising event will not be held.

  • This is so sad. We always looked forward to the BBQ. Maybe they can still do a raffle(s) of some sort to still raise money for their valuable service.

  • I hate to hear this. Something everyone looked forward to. COVID has ruined everything this summer.

  • So why can't they do it by phone in orders, and drive by pickup, Or no contact delivery.
