Greencastle Alumni Dollars for Scholars awards 18 scholarships

Among 186 students, 18 Greencastle High School graduates were awarded $1,000 scholarships this year. The 2020 award winners are:

• Kensie Bumgardner - Ivy Tech Community College (second year of award)

• Henry Carter - Valparaiso University

• Emily Crowder - Purdue University

• Jaylyn Duff - IUPUI

• Jedediah Fait - Hanover College (second year of award)

• Grace Gillen - Indiana University (third year of award)

• Jack Howard - Purdue University

• Emma Huber - DePauw University

• Makenzie Miles - IUPUI (second year of award)

• Joshua Nally - Rochester Institute of Technology

• Jennifer Scott - IUPUI

• Conner Taylor - Wabash College

• Corydon Taylor - Wabash College

• Lydia Trout - Calvin University (third year of award)

• Michael White - Cedarville University

• Rose White - Taylor University (third year of award)

• Kinsee Wilson - University of Southern Indiana

• Andrew York - Purdue University

These scholarships may be used at four-year colleges or universities, two-year colleges or trade schools. This year, three graduates received the scholarship for the third year while three others received it for the second time. Some students have received one all four years of their college career.

Recipients may apply for the scholarship for four years.

“I am thankful for your generosity in helping me pay for college,” one recipient said about being awarded a scholarship. “Without people like you I would be in debt for the rest of my life and those less fortunate than me would struggle to even go to college without people like you.”

Another recipient said, “I am so grateful for this investment into my education and hope to help others out similarly in my future.”

Greencastle Alumni Dollars for Scholars is a nonprofit volunteer organization that provides Greencastle High School graduating seniors and graduates with financial and academic assistance to help them pursue higher education.

Since 1994, Greencastle Alumni Dollars for Scholars (formerly the GHS Alumni Association) has awarded 186 scholarships amounting to over $184,200.
