Thomas Joseph Kanakis

Thomas “Tom” Joseph Kanakis, 77, Cloverdale, passed from this world on Monday, Aug. 31, 2020.

He was born on Tuesday, March 2, 1943 to Thomas Kanakis and Roberta (Earl) Lanning in Bedford.

Tom was a very proud Marine who served our country — Semper fi was a part of his life. He was 32nd-degree Mason and a member of Larabee lodge 131, Stilesville. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite.

He worked for the Indiana Department of Correction at the Regional Diagnostic Center in Plainfield as a correctional sergeant for 34 years.

Tom had his own welding shop in Plainfield, A & G Radiator Shop. He also loved street rods, making old new and showing them and tinkering making things

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Kanakis and Roberta (Earl) Lanning.

He is survived by loving wife Kathy Kanakis, son Leo Romero, brother Kim Kanakis, sister Caroline Kanakis, Sally and Dustin Persinger as caretakers, and other extended family and friends.

He is missed by all who loved him.
