Most PCF offenders have now recovered from COVID-19

PUTNAMVILLE — Not only have COVID-19 cases slowed at Putnamville Correctional Facility, most of the infected prisoners have now recovered.

As of Friday, the prison still stood at 177 offenders who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 since March.

However, the really good news came in that 143 prisoners were shown to have recovered, an increase of 94 from one day earlier.

At the prison, 474 prisoners remained in quarantine for possible exposure to COVID-19, while 173 others were in isolation either for confirmed or likely cases.

No new numbers were reported by the Indiana Department of Correction during the holiday weekend.

In the community, there have now been 460 diagnosed cases of COVID-19 in Putnam County since March, the Indiana State Department of Health reported Monday.

This marked an increase of 22 cases from what ISDH was reporting on Thursday.

There have also been no new cases at DePauw University in more than a week, with a total of six cases in 989 tests since students returned to campus.

With the holiday weekend, there is also no update to give regarding cases in Putnam County schools.
