County Jail

Fourteen people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 2:22 a.m. Daniel J. Doerflein, 31, Poland, was housed at the jail for auto theft and invasion of privacy.

• At 1:57 a.m. Carol M. Anderson, 43, Quincy, was booked in for auto theft and possession of methamphetamine.

Wednesday

• At 6:36 p.m. Jordan L. Jones, 20, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for operating while intoxicated.

• At 9:55 a.m. Clifton R. Adams, 55, Greencastle, was taken into custody for probation violation.

• At 3:14 a.m. Walter M. Warren, 36, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail for driving with a suspended license.

• At 1:50 a.m. Justin B. Pyles, 21, Cloverdale, was booked in for driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

Tuesday

• At 4:01 p.m. Johnny R. Corder, 28, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license, resisting law enforcement, possession of marijuana and possession of driving with a Schedule I or II controlled substance in the body.

• At 12:19 p.m. Andrew L. Boucher, 46, Columbus, was taken into custody for driving a vehicle after forfeiture of license for life.

• At 10:37 a.m. Richard C. Waggoner, 36, Coatesville, was housed at the jail for possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of paraphernalia with a prior conviction, possession of marijuana and leaving the scene of a property-damage accident.

• At 2:08 a.m. Paul W. Gunzel, 37, Brazil, was booked in for driving while intoxicated.

Monday

• At 10:20 p.m. Evelyn N. Ballard, 40, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for compulsory school attendance violation.

• At 8:21 p.m. Michelle L. Lubiniecki, 29, Greencastle, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated.

• At 2:33 p.m. James M. Short, 65, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail for driving a vehicle after lifetime suspension and driving with BAC of .08 or more.

• At 10:03 a.m. Dean M. Mattingly, 71, Cloverdale, was booked in on a local warrant.

City Police

Two recent citations were issued by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 5:35 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, Rick Green, 44, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Luke Brown.

Stopped on State Road 240 near Warren Drive, Green was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

• At 1:01 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, Tamara Mabley, 52, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Brown.

Stopped on Bloomington Street near Martinsville Street, Mabley was issued a citation for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated four recent property-damage crashes.

• At 4:36 p.m. on Monday, Samuel D. Hayden, 16, Greencastle, was westbound on County Road 25 North from County Road 225 East in a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu.

Hayden told Deputy Josh Deal that as he approached a curve in the road, a red box truck was in his lane, forcing him off the road and into a ditch on the opposite side. There were no other witnesses to the incident.

The vehicle was towed. Deal estimated damage at $10,000-$25,0000.

• At 4:19 p.m. on Monday, Kelly L. Wright, 46, Greencastle, was waiting in a long line at the CVS store on Indianapolis Road in a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. The line was long enough that cars were waiting around the corner into the parking area.

Lorraine A. Matheson, 68, Spencer, was parked facing west in a 2020 Jeep Latitude. She told Deputy Matt Demmings that Wright was stopped in her blind spot and she backed up, striking Wright’s vehicle.

Demmings estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 8:24 a.m. on Monday, Corgan D. Conniff, 17, Fillmore, was westbound on County Road 75 North in a 2007 Kia Spectra.

As Conniff passed 45756 E. CR 75 North, he lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway. The vehicle entered a ditch on the south side of the road and rolled multiple times.

Conniff complained of head pain and Putnam County EMS transported him to Hendricks Regional Health.

The vehicle wast towed. Deputy Brian Helmer estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

• At 5:36 a.m. on Monday, Christian L. Williams, 28, Poland, was northbound on County Road 375 West approaching the S-curve at the intersection of 575 South in a 2000 Ford Ranger.

Williams told Deputy Helmer he fell asleep and left the road. The vehicle hit a duke utility pole head on.

Williams complained of hip pain and finger pain and was checked out by Putnam County EMS. He signed a statement of release and refused transport to the hospital.

The pole was snapped in half but remained standing, with the lines still in the air. The car was towed.

Helmer estimated damage at $25,000-$50,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to one recent dispatch:

• At 2:06 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to Chiyoda for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 2:12 and were advised that the pumps there were being tested. GFD went back into service at 2:15 p.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed four medical assists and had three disregards.
