Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 5:11 p.m. on Thursday, Kaylee A. Hubbard, 20, Greencastle, was southbound on U.S. 231 approaching the U.S. 40 intersection in a 2009 Toyota Corolla. Hubbard was in the left turn lane, passing vehicles in the straight lane who were already stopped for the light.

Scott A. Robertson, 51, Terre Haute, was exiting the Mobil gas station at 231 and 40, attempting to turn north onto U.S. 231 in a 2000 GMC pickup.

Robertson attempted to turn left through a break in the stopped vehicles. In doing so, he entered the path of Hubbard, who said she was unable to stop.

Hubbard said she slammed on her brakes, though Deputy Robert Soilleux found no evidence of brake marks from either vehicle.

Hubbard’s car sustained heavy front-end damage, while Robertson’s truck had heavy driver side damage starting behind the driver’s side door. Hubbard’s vehicle had to be towed.

Soilleux estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.
