It is with a heavy heart and immense sorrow that we announce the passing of Heather Lee Elkins on Nov. 1, 2020, at the age of 54.

Born March 30, 1966 to parents John and Laura Jean Wilson, Heather was raised in Greencastle alongside her brother, John Wilson.

Heather spent her life supporting others through counseling and her giant-hearted, ever-giving nature. Heather raised her son, daughter, two stepdaughters and later welcomed two sons-in-law.

Survivors include Jesse (Florin) Elkins-Beschea, Lauren Elkins, Kaitlyn (Brett) Shipp and Courtney Elkins; grandchildren Olivia Elkins, Jaden Beschea and Allison and Jackson Shipp, as well as her brother, John Wilson, and many cousins of the Wilson family

Heather was full of love and deep, genuine care for helping others. Heather not only preached kindness as the way of life, but she carried out her words through daily, impactful love to every single person she knew (and didn’t know).

Heather loved adventure, her family and the complexities and intricacies of life. Heather never shied away from humor or stirring up a joy and light in every situation. Heather’s bright, forever-young, joyous soul will live on in loving memory.

In celebration of Heather’s life, the family would like to commemorate Heather’s passion for equity and equality for all and ask those to donate to http://HRC.org in lieu of flowers.
