Sarah ‘Helen’ Robbins

Tuesday, November 10, 2020

On Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020, our Lord and Savior called his faithful servant home to rest in His loving arms.

Sarah “Helen” Robbins was born on Feb. 23, 1932 to the late Jewell and Lela (Hopkins) Page.

She graduated from Roachdale High School in 1950.

Helen married William “Bill” Robbins on June 14, 1951, and together they celebrated 65 years of love. They were blessed with four children, Dennis (Cheri), Paul (Sherri), Richard (Barb) and Cindia (Dean).

She worked at the Roachdale Variety Store then side by side with Bill, establishing and operating Robbins & Sons, Inc. in Roachdale for 39 years.

Helen was known as “Nanny” by her 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, friends and family. Her greatest joy and legacy in life was teaching, playing and reading to her next generations.

Nanny spent many hours watching, feeding and enjoying the hummingbirds, orioles, cardinals and numerous other birds outside her kitchen window. Often she would be seen outdoors, pulling weeds and tending to her flowers. Nanny enjoyed her puzzles. She was a jigsaw puzzle queen and would work two or three simultaneously. Sudoku kept her mind sharp, and could always be found close at hand. Nanny thoroughly reveled in spending time with her “Peeps” out on the town, especially getting ice cream.

Nanny was a Christian woman who read her Bible daily and prayed habitually. Her greatest desire was to share the Good News of her Savior with those around her.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Bill, parents and grandsons James Aaron and Michael Travis, and is survived by brother Robert “Bob” Page.

Graveside services are set for 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13 at the Roachdale Cemetery with Pastor Wally Beam officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

You are invited to visit www.serviesmorgan.com where you may leave a condolence or share a memory with the family.

Servies & Morgan Funeral Home, Roachdale, has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements, with special thanks to Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service, Decatur, Ill.
