First Habitat golf scramble a success

Monday, November 23, 2020

To the Editor:

Habitat for Humanity would like to thank all of those who participated in our first Golf Scramble held on Sept. 11.

Specifically, we would like to thank all our sponsors who helped raise $4,560 (net profit): Brickyard Raffle, Endeavor Communications, English Family Farms, Roachdale Building Supplies, North Salem State Bank, David Berry, Clover Meadows Golf Course, Langdon Team, York Chevrolet, Mike Goss, Brad Tucker, F.C. Tucker, McGammon Insurance, Primer Real Estate, RE/MAX, Abstract and Title, Kiwanis, Kirsch Family Dentistry, Comprehensive Services, Hammer and Company, HMSB Insurance, First Baptist Church, First National Bank and Wabash Capital.

We also want to thank all the volunteers who helped put this together and Lynda Dunbar for providing lunch that was paid for via an anonymous donor. A huge thanks to Clover Meadows Golf Course for allowing us to have the event there. Thank you to all those who purchased Mulligans and visited our beverage cart.

We would also like to acknowledge and thank the seven teams who participated: Langdon Team, Endeavor Team, Clover Meadows, Roachdale Supply, English Family Farms, N.S.S.B. and Putnam County Hospital.

The winners of the Habitat for Humanity Golf Scramble were the Langdon Team and Endeavor Team, who tied at 18 under par. The winning teams will receive free entry for next year’s scramble.

Coming into second place was Clover Meadows with 15 under par, and tying for third place were English Family Farms and Roachdale Supply with 11 under par.

We really appreciate the teams for coming out and participating. Without them and our volunteers (board members), this event would not have been possible. Thank you all for your support.

For those who would like to participate in next year’s Habitat for Humanity Golf Scramble, the date is June 18, 2021. We hope to see you there!

The money raised from this event goes toward our current build. This has helped tremendously enhance our construction fund. If interested in the progress of our build, feel free to drive by the corner of Round Barn Road and Albin Pond Road in Greencastle.

For anyone interested in supporting our current or future builds, please contact the Putnam County Habitat for Humanity office at 653-5360 or 765-720-7346, or email putnamhabitat@gmail.com or executivedirector@putnamhabitat.com.

The ways to support your local Habitat affiliate include donations, either monetary or in-kind, or volunteer work. Putnam County Habitat is grateful for the opportunity to be once again a viable entity in the county after having been present since 1988.

Again, we appreciate your support and the opportunity to enhance and enrich our community by providing security for a family to procure, through physical and financial investment, a home.
