Hubert Wayne Crodian

Hubert Wayne Crodian, 89, of Greencastle, passed away peacefully on Nov. 25, 2020 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born near Fincastle on Dec. 17, 1930, the son of Claude and Francis (Goddard) Crodian.

He met his wife Amelia at Somerset Christian Church and they were married on Oct. 17, 1954 and had just celebrated 66 years of marriage.

He retired in 1986 from IBM, where he had worked for 25 years, after which he and Amelia enjoyed traveling and wintering in Texas. In his early years he farmed in Clinton Township, enjoyed hunting, fishing and gathering ginseng. He looked forward to gardening every spring and in the late 1980s opened his greenhouse business. Hubert was a 50-year plus member of the Masonic Temple.

He is survived by his wife Amelia Crodian; four daughters, Diantha (Tony) Thornburg, Sharon (Marty) Wertz, both of Crawfordsville and Susan Crodian and Debbie Rumley of Greencastle; with one grandchild, Michael Rumley of Greencastle; plus multiple nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Gail Steele and Mary Hurst.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Masonic services will proceed the funeral services at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at the Clinton Falls Cemetery.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks must be worn at all times. If you don’t feel comfortable coming in person, the family understands that you are supporting them in thought and prayer.
