No, a movie scene did not play out Manhattan Road late Monday morning.

Yes, an armored truck did wreck, rolling onto its side just off the roadway.

But there was no money swirling around in the chilly November air, just a large truck on its side, needing to get upright and back to Indianapolis.

Around 10:30 a.m., Charles Gant, 40, of Plainfield, was southbound in the Peterbilt armored truck registered to GardaWorld Security.

Gant told Deputy Scott Ducker of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office that he was in the area of the intersection with County Road 550 South when he began to feel the backend fishtail.

At this point, Gant hit his brakes, which locked up, causing the vehicle to skid out of control.

As the vehicle left the west side of the road, it rolled onto its side and then collided with the pole.

Hix Towing of Indianapolis responded to the scene, getting the truck upright and towing it back to GardaWorld in Indianapolis.

Reelsville Fire Department also responded, providing cleanup and other assistance.

Traffic was restricted for several hours, first as crews retrieved the vehicle, then as Duke Energy set a new pole, one of several times the energy provider has had to do so along Manhattan Road in the last year.
