Putnam County Masked Singer to promote mask wearing

Monday, November 30, 2020

Encouraging community members to “Rock the mask and rock the mic,” Putnam County Hospital, Putnam County Chamber of Commerce and the Greencastle Music Fest are joining forces for a competition this holiday season.

This year has been less than ideal and mask fatigue is real. However, organizers hope it can also be a reason to have a little fun.

Organizers are challenging area businesses or organizations to come up with a Christmas-themed song centered around wearing a mask.

Music videos for the Putnam County Masked Singer will be accepted until Friday, Dec. 11.

Those videos will then be posted to the Chamber Facebook page. Community members will vote, along with a panel of four judges, and a winner will be crowned on Dec. 24.

The winner will receive lunch from Almost Home, donated by Putnam County Hospital, on Jan. 8 (maximum of 10 people).

The winning team will also be awarded tickets to the 2021 MusicFest and will be recognized during the Saturday MusicFest celebration.

To register, send the following information to Brooke Trissel at btrissel@pchosp.org: Business or organization name, business address, contact name, contact phone number and names of group members.

All videos need to be sent to Chamber Executive Director Brian Cox at briancox@goputco.com no later than Dec. 11.

Judging will be based on Facebook likes (one point each), Facebook shares (two points each) and a panel of four community judges who are not participating in the competition.

For those who are mask believers and those who are not, the competition is simply about coming together as a community for some holiday fun.

As PCH representatives have been reminding us since March, “We are all in this together.”
