Tuesday, December 1, 2020

With an ear to some of the talent cultivated right here in fertile soil of West Central Indiana, the Wednesday, Dec. 2 edition of the Greencastle Virtual Music Festival will be “Deep Roots: Singer/Songwriters of Putnam County.”

With a 7:30 p.m. variety show format, the lineup will include Derek Chastain, Joel and LaToshia Everson, Bobbie Lancaster, Luke Lovejoy and Ethan Batan, and Gus Moon.

The virtual concert and live watch party will be available at gvmf.live.

The concert can also be viewed anytime beginning at 7:30 p.m;. Wednesday on Facebook, YouTube or greencastlemusic.org.

Some of the video was recorded in Gobin, some at the performers’ homes.

Lancaster put together this program and will join festival founder Eric Edberg in hosting.

As the holiday season continues, some of the upcoming shows include:

Dec. 9: Lessons and carols with DePauw School of Music alumni

Dec. 16: Holiday/winter solstice music from around the world

Dec. 23: Virtual Christmas cookie and caroling party

Dec. 30: Looking to the New Year with Cathie Malach and friends

Anyone who would like to share holiday cook photos (and recipes if they’d like) for the Dec. 23 event should email them to greencastlevmf@gmail.com.

The festival’s events are made possible by the Greencastle Summer Music Festival family of donors, the GSMF endowment at the Putnam County Community Foundation, the Putnam County Convention and Visitor Bureau, the DePauw Performing Arts Series, The Inn at DePauw and the people of Gobin Church and their pastor, Bryan Langdoc.
