Administrators, students and faculty from the four Putnam County high schools have again collaborated with the Washburn Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) to select one member from each senior class to represent his or her school in the annual Putnam County DAR Good Citizen competition.

The 2020 winners are Grace Elmore from North Putnam, Anastasia Wood from Greencastle, Evan Steffy from South Putnam and Jessica Geiger from Cloverdale.

Students are selected for having a variety of interests, making positive contributions to their home, church and community, for their scholastic achievement and awards and exhibiting qualities such as dependability, honesty, leadership, cooperation, self-control and initiative.

Each contestant must write an essay about the responsibility of good citizenship and submit a transcript of grades and two letters of recommendation.

The competition will be conducted virtually at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10.

The Good Citizen winners from each Putnam County high school will be congratulated and will read their essays for the virtual assembly of DAR members, parents and school personnel. Immediately following the four students’ presentations, the overall Putnam County Good Citizen will be announced.
