John ‘Jack’ Edward Reeves

John “Jack” Edward Reeves, 82, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020 at his home in Parke County.

He was born in Clay County on Jan. 29, 1938 to the late Harry and Reba (Ewing) Reeves.

Jack graduated from Van Buren High School in 1955, and served his country in the United States Army.

He married Emily Jane McHargue on June 23, 1961.

Jack worked at IBM for 31 years, and farmed until 2018.

He attended Lena United Methodist Church, and enjoyed bird hunting and trap shooting.

Jack was preceded in death by his brother, William Reeves, and his sister, Erma Lou Hill.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Emily Jane Reeves; sons Doug (Carol) Reeves and Mike Reeves; sister Karolyn Trusty; sister-in-law Loisdene Reeves; brother-in-law Rev. Bill Hill; and grandchildren Katie and Nathan Reeves; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10 at Calcutta Cemetery in Carbon. The family will accept friends for visitation on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
