Thomas Joseph Deom

Thomas Joseph Deom, 75, of Greencastle, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020.

Born May 31, 1945 in Poseyville, he was the son of Arthur Joseph and Lillian Mabel (Basinger) Deom.

Tom was a graduate of North Posey High School and received is associate's degree in robotics technology from National Technical Schools.

Tom retired from Thompson Consumer Electronics (formerly RCA), where he had worked for 19 years.

He was a member of New Hope Fellowship Church.

Tom is survived by his wife, Carol L. (Spurling) Deom, whom he married on Aug. 24, 1996; his stepchildren, Martin (Jennifer) Hanks, Melinda (Jeffrey) Peters and Danielle Dickson; foster son David Bachert; sisters Sue Deom, Monica Winters and Pat Flynn; grandchildren Alex, Jake, David, Cody, Caity, Shandi, Caleb, Kira and Sandy; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lawrence, Alfred I. and Francis Eugene Deom; and eight sisters, Marie Kobert, Ruth Greenwood, Eleanor Deom, Lucille Deom, Margaret Engleking, Rita Hahn, Catherine Deom, Dorothy Lagapa and Joan Bayh.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 28 at New Hope Fellowship Church, 2450 N. U.S. 231, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends from noon until time of service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Tom to the Christmas Store c/o of the church.
