An online Christmas party is scheduled Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. as the Greencastle Virtual Music Festival continues with cellist Eric Edberg and pianist/singer Jason Powell playing Christmas songs together and Powell leading a Christmas carol singalong.

There’s a live “watch party” on Zoom at http://gvmf.live, including post “party” conversation. The program can be viewed anytime at facebook.com/greencastlevirtualmusic or greencastlemusic.org.

Along with the music, there will be photos and videos of area holiday decorations, as well as home decorations, cookies, etc. shared by audience members. Edberg, who organizes the virtual events, says he’ll include photos and video clips received by 11 p.m. Tuesday.. Photos and videos of your Christmas tree, other decorations, holiday cookies and desserts, kids opening presents, can be submitted at http://Christmas.GVMF.live or emailed to greencastlevmf@gmail.com.

“While so many of us are physically distanced from each other, we are providing a weekly time of connection through music and conversation,” Edberg explained. “With this event we are trying to capture at least the spirit of a holiday party where people exchange cookies, sing carols together, and listen as a couple of musicians sit down and play together.

“Jason is an extraordinarily gifted pianist and singer, and the music minister at LifeJourney Church in Indianapolis,” Edberg added. “It was a real treat to have him come over to Greencastle and record with me in Gobin Church’s beautifully decorated sanctuary.”

This week’s musical performances were audio and video recorded by Parker Black.

The festival’s weekly events are made possible by the Greencastle Summer Music Festival family of donors, the GSMF endowment at the Putnam County Community Foundation, the Putnam County Convention and Visitor Bureau, the DePauw Performing Arts Series, The Inn at DePauw, and the people of Gobin Church and their pastor, Bryan Langdoc.
