Health Department opens eligibility to ages 65 and above

Monday, February 1, 2021

As of Monday, the Indiana Department of Health has opened eligibility to the next wave for COVID-19 vaccines.

Anyone aged 65 and older is now eligible for the vaccine.

Appointments can be made by visiting www.putnamhealthindiana.org and selecting the COVID-19 vaccinations link at the top of the page.

Additionally, appointments may be made by calling 2-1-1.

The Putnam County Health Department will continue offering COVID-19 vaccines at its office at 1542 Bloomington St., Suite 1500, Greencastle.

In addition, a second vaccination site offered by the Putnam County Hospital will soon be opening at the Putnam County Fairgrounds.

Anyone who received his or her first dose at Putnam County Health Department should keep their second appointment at the same location.

“We are excited to have multiple vaccination clinics within the community and encourage everyone to do their due diligence when booking their appointment to ensure they arrive at the correct location, either the Fairgrounds or the Putnam County Health Department located inside the Hospital,” a Putnam County Health Department spokesman said.

Appointments are not interchangeable to ensure doses are not wasted and the correct manufacturer dose is given to the patient.

Volunteer applications are still being accepted for those who wish to support the community vaccination effort.

Visit www.putnamhealthindiana.org and select the link at the top of the page.

The intent of the Putnam County Health Department is to prevent, promote, and protect the health, safety and vital records for the people of Putnam County by providing various health and wellness screening services, educational programs, enforcing public health laws and collecting and accurately recording all vital events occurring in Putnam County.
