Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated five recent property-damage crashes.

• At 7:20 p.m. on Sunday, Billy R. Albright, 57, Roachdale, was southbound on County Road 250 East in a 1989 Chevrolet pickup.

Trissel was assisted at the scene by Roachdale Deputy Marshal Owen Richardson.

• At 6 p.m. on Saturday, Darlene K. Lucas, 53, Greencastle, was westbound on West Walnut Street going uphill toward Irwin Bridge in a 2016 Buick Lacrosse.

In the heavy snow, Lucas lost control and spun into the eastbound lane and into the path of a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Caleb A. Carpenter, 34, Fillmore.

Due to the slick conditions and the fact that he was pulling a trailer, Carpenter could do nothing to avoid hitting the passenger side of Lucas’ vehicle.

Nathan Bousman, 44, Greencastle, told Chief Deputy Matt Demmings he had possibly broken his nose, but declined medical attention.

Also responding to the crash were Putnam County EMS, the Greencastle Fire Department, Greencastle Police Sgt. Ed Wilson and Deputy Daniel Birt.

The driver of the second vehicle told Soilleux he was asleep in the vehicle at the time of the collision.

Soilleux noted that several other vehicles were stuck in the parking lot at the time and an attendant was notified to take appropriate measures for the slippery conditions.

While the vehicles were waiting for a wrecker to pull them apart, Edwin L. Bottelman, 60, Greeley, Iowa, was attempting to pull away from the pumps in a 2020 Freightliner Cascade registered to Steger Transport, Dyersville, Iowa.

Like Singh, Bottelman lost control and slid down the hill, crashing into the trailer of the second vehicle.
