County Jail

Sixteen people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 5:58 a.m. Lisa M. Stehle, 50, Brazil, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

Wednesday

• At 10:38 a.m. Jason R. Bishop, 36, Coatesville, was taken into custody for battery.

• At 10:05 a.m. Christian W. Caldwell, 19, Russellville, was housed at the jail for failure to appear.

• At 2:04 a.m. Steve M. Weldon, 35, Coatesville, was booked in for possession of methamphetamine and leaving the scene of a property-damage accident.

• At 1:49 a.m. Chester J. Haines III, 20, Brazil, was lodged at the jail for reckless driving.

• At 1:43 a.m. Jack D. Barnett, 41, Brazil, was taken into custody for false informing.

Tuesday

• At 6:34 p.m. Amanda M. Harvey, 41, Jasonville, was housed at the jail for possession of methamphetamine.

• At 3:44 p.m. Jennifer Ziemendorf, 41, Brazil, was booked in for carrying a handgun without a license.

• At 4:59 a.m. Quinton B. Taylor, 25, Shelbyville, was lodged at the jail for driving with a suspended license.

• At 2:40 a.m. Joshua R. Church, 32, Covington, was taken into custody for theft.

Monday

• At 7:13 p.m. Dustin L. Brock, 38, Coatesville, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

• At 4:21 p.m. Kimberly D. Birchman, 44, Coatesville, was booked in for driving while intoxicated.

• At 1:38 p.m. Stacey D. Cox, 51, Clinton, was lodged at the jail for possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 1:36 p.m. Richard D. Carver, 47, Indianapolis, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine and driving while intoxicated.

• At 10:23 a.m. Matthew F. Crow, 32, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for driving with a BAC of .08 or more and for driving while intoxicated.

• At 9:04 a.m. Michael C. Dixon, 70, Terre Haute, was booked in for failure to appear and on a local warrant.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 6:47 p.m. on Monday, Madison R. Trotter, 18, Greencastle, was eastbound on County Road 350 North near the intersection of County Road 200 West in a 2017 Toyota Corolla when multiple deer entered the road.

Trotter’s car made front-left impact with the first deer and then ran over it. A second deer ran into the left side of the car and rolled down the side.

Deputy Kyle Gibbons reported the car suffered moderate-to-significant damage but did not have to be towed.

He estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to six recent dispatches:

• At 9:46 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to International Automotive Components for a sprinkler activation. Firefighters arrived at 9:55 and determined the activation was due to a malfunction. GFD went back into service at 10:17 p.m.

• At 7:53 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to Sigma Alpha Epsilon on the DePauw University campus for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 7:57 and determined the alarm was due to a dirty detector head. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 8:08 a.m.

• GFD responded to two consecutive dispatches to Phoenix Closures on Wednesday:

-- At 3:27 p.m., GFD was dispatched for a fire hydrant leaking. Firefighters arrived at 3:34 and determined the fire hydrant was being flushed by the Reelsville Water Authority. GFD went back into service at 3:40 p.m.

-- At 4:41 p.m., GFD was dispatched for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 4:43 and were unable to determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 5:03 p.m.

• At 1:53 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to Phi Kappa Psi on the DePauw University campus for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:58 and were unable to determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 2:16 a.m.

• At 7:16 a.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident without injuries at 207 N. Indiana St. Firefighters arrived at the scene at 7:17 and cleaned up debris and fluid from the roadway. GFD went back into service at 7:30 a.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed nine medical assists and had one disregard.
