David Joseph Jay

David Joseph Jay, 86, of Greencastle, passed away on Jan. 27, 2021 at home with family at his bedside.

“Dave” was born in Moorhead, Minn., to Norbert “Bud” and Doris Jay on Aug. 15, 1934.

He graduated from Staples High School. He married Sally Baloun on Nov. 21, 1953 in Staples, Minn.

He worked for many years as the area manager for Intercity Gas before he retired.

He was involved in the Knights of Columbus, where he served as a grand knight and was given an honorary lifetime membership. Dave was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Greencastle.

Dave was preceded in death by his wife Sally Jay and son David Jay Jr.

Dave is survived by his children, Catherine McKeithen of Maple Grove, Minn., Susette (Dominic) Schmidt of Sparta, Wis., Pam Jay (wife of David Jay Jr.) of Glenwood, Iowa, Patricia (Richard) Kaste of Greencastle, Gregory (Barbara) Jay of Cloverdale and Jennifer (Steve) Lien of Greencastle; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bud (Jan) Jay and Ralph Jay; and one sister, Doris “Sissy” Jennisen, all residing in Minnesota.

The family of David Jay wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Keith Landry and Heart to Heart Hospice with these wonderful caregivers, Jennifer, Rachael, Julia, Lynn, Hanah, Angie and Tammi.

A private celebration of life will be held in Perham, Minn., during the upcoming summer months.
