Park Dept. planning Lego contest, non-traditional Easter egg hunt

Monday, March 1, 2021

The Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department would like to invite everyone to build their favorite Lego creation for the April Park Board meeting.

All creative creations will be judged based on other creations in your division. There will also be a Peeps creativity challenge. Using the famous peep candies (older are better because they aren’t as sticky) make your favorite scene. You can use a book, movie or games for inspiration.

For more information or to register early, persons may contact Chrysta Snellenberger at csnellenberger@cityofgreencastle.com or look on the park website at greencastleparks.com under the programs tab.

The April Park Board meeting is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 7 at City Hall.

The department is also looking to hold the non-traditional Easter egg hunt again this year with 21 local businesses participating. The Robe-Ann Park Easter egg hunt was canceled at Wednesday’s Park Board meeting. (See page 1.)

To participate register online at greencastleparks.com under the programs tab or call the office at 653-3395. This program consists of solving riddles to find out which businesses are hiding the eggs on their storefront. It is asked that you do not take the eggs off the windows, that way everyone can find them.

You can pick up a form at the entrance of Robe-Ann Park at the message board or by email. The program is scheduled from March 21-26. Each child participating will receive a prize.

Meanwhile, the Greencastle Park and Recreation is now accepting applications for seasonal maintenance, SPARK leaders, concession stand manager, concession workers, assistant aquatic manager, lifeguards and front desk attendants

Persons may contact Chrysta Snellenberger for more information or for an application. All employees get free access to the pool for the duration of the summer as well.

  • Sounds like competition with some being judged better than others. Impressive!

I guess the park is not following the leftist/ liberal playbook on this one.
