SAWs (Servants at Work), a mission of Greencastle Presbyterian Church which provides ramps and steps to disabled Putnam County residents, is beginning its 13th year of service to the community.

Even with the impact of COVID-19, SAWs was able to help 17 residents improve access to their homes last year. The mission hopes to provide assistance to at least 20 recipients in 2021.

SAWs is the only organization in Putnam County that offers assistance to qualified disabled residents who need help accessing their homes at no cost.

Since it began in 2009, 213 Putnam County residents have been helped through the mission.

The mission receives more requests than it can complete in a build season, meaning that some will be on a waiting list for the next year. Persons are encouraged to contact SAWs as soon as possible.

SAWs is an expensive mission due to the increase in cost of materials during the pandemic. As such, donations from the community are greatly encouraged.

Donations to the mission may be sent to Greencastle Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 512, Greencastle, IN 46135.

Those who need assistance or are interested in the mission may call SAWs at 653-5713 or email the church office at www.churchoffice@cinergy.net.
