County Jail

Six people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 12:54 a.m. Uriah B. Kortz, 39, Fillmore, was lodged at the jail for invasion of privacy.

Friday

• At 11:12 a.m. Kirsten L. Phillips, 29, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for possession of a narcotic drug, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia.

Thursday

• At 3:25 p.m. Donald A. Pearson, 56, Bainbridge, was lodged at the jail on a writ of body attachment.

• At 2:44 p.m. Danny W. Hensley, 47, Bainbridge, was taken into custody for criminal trespass and resisting law enforcement.

• At 1:04 p.m. Tommy D. Billings Jr., 37, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for domestic battery, strangulation, criminal confinement, harassment and invasion of privacy.

• At 10:45 a.m. Jessica D. Glenn, 35, Greencastle, was booked in on a writ.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 12:14 a.m. Friday, Garrison G. Byrd, 26, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Jared McDaniel on a Parke County warrant for child molesting, fondling or molesting a child under 14 years of age.

Arrested at Shadowlawn and College avenues, Byrd was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

• At 6:45 a.m. Friday, Dakota J. Carpenter, 28, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Zach Rhine.

Arrested at a Greenwood Avenue residence, Carpenter was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a charge of domestic battery.

Summonses were issued in four cases investigated by city officers.

• At 10:28 p.m. Sunday, Desmond Ford, 23, Russellville, was cited by Officer Luke Brown.

Stopped at South Jackson and Hanna streets, Ford was issued a summons into court for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

• At 9:24 p.m. Sunday, Coalisha Thompson, 24, Fillmore, was cited by Officer Angela Taylor.

Stopped at Percy Julian Drive and Mill Pond Drive, Thompson was issued a summons into court for possession of marijuana.

• At 11:29 a.m. Sunday, Bryton Velazquez, 19, Brazil, was cited by Officer Darrel Bunten.

Stopped on Martinsville Street, Velazquez was issued a summons into court for possession of marijuana.

• At 3:48 p.m. Saturday, Rick Green, 44, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Rhine.

Stopped on Avenue D, Green was issued a summons into court for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 8:35 p.m. on Friday, Tiffany L. Monnett, 38, Brazil, was southbound on County Road 400 West in a 2015 Chevrolet Impala when she hit a deer.

The vehicle was towed. Deputy Daniel Birt estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to three dispatches:

• GFD responded to two consecutive dispatches to Pi Beta Phi on DePauw University’s campus on Thursday:

-- At 3:01 p.m., GFD was dispatched for a smell of gas. Firefighters arrived at 3:02 but found no cause for the alarm. GFD went back into service at 3:34 p.m.

-- At 3:52 p.m., GFD was dispatched again for a smell of gas. Firefighters arrived at 3:53 and determined that a smell was coming from a heat air duct. GFD shut off the furnace and went back into service at 4:14 p.m.

• At 9:55 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident without injuries at 1236 W. CR 200 South. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 10 p.m. and found no hazards or fluids. GFD went back into service at 10:09 p.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed eight medical assists and had two disregards.
