A Terre Haute woman was arrested on alcohol-related charges following a crash early Sunday morning.

At approximately 3:10 a.m. Jessica L. Butler, 34, Terre Haute, appears to have been eastbound on County Road 1050 South in a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox.

Deputy Robert Soilleux reported that the vehicle ran off the south side of the road and into the ditch, where it struck and bounced off the cement slab marking the culvert that crosses the road. After impact, the vehicle came to rest facing south, blocking the entire road.

Butler told Soilleux she was lost and trying to find her way home when she reached down to use her GPS and then crashed.

The crash resulted in heavy front-end damage and the vehicle requiring a tow. Soilleux estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

The driver tested at .17 percent ACE on the portable breath test.

Butler initially said she was not injured but later complained of pain all over and was taken to Putnam County Hospital for treatment.

Butler was later booked in the Putnam County Jail on charges of driving while intoxicated.
