County Jail

Five people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 1:20 a.m. Dalton D. Hall, 41, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

Wednesday

• At 11:20 a.m. Frank R. Coverdale Jr., 54, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for domestic battery.

• At 2:08 a.m. Daniel T. Claycomb, 41, Roachdale, was booked in for driving with a suspended license.

Monday

• At 12:51 p.m. John J. Morelock, 50, Indianapolis, was taken into custody for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

• At 11:06 a.m. Michale J. Travioli, 56, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

Indiana State Police

Trooper Colton Maynor arrested a Cloverdale man Wednesday afternoon.

Michael R. Runnells, 36, was booked in the Putnam County Jail on a warrant for failure to appear on a driving with a suspended license charge.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated two recent property-damage crashes.

• At 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dallas S. Savage, 24, Indianapolis, was stopped in the parking lot of Putnam County Hospital in a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu. He told Deputy Tanner Brown he was waiting on another vehicle to move when a pickup truck backed into him.

Tyler G. Bradley, 27, Danville, was backing out of his space in a 2017 Nissan short-bed pickup. He told Brown he saw a vehicle pass behind him so he backed out of his spot, not seeing Savage’s car and hitting it.

Brown estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 6:22 a.m. on Monday, Alexander C. Thomas, 20, Bowling Green, was southbound on U.S. 231 attempting to turn left onto the eastbound entrance ramp of Interstate 70 in a 2016 Kia Rio. Daniel E. Patterson, 38, Cloverdale, was northbound attempting to turn right onto the entrance ramp in a 2002 Subaru Forrester.

Patterson told Deputy Brown that after a truck pulling a trailer came onto the entrance ramp, he did not see Thomas’ car and started driving onto the ramp, colliding with the car.

Thomas said that as he attempted to turn, Patterson’s vehicle struck his.

Brown estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to one recent dispatch:

• At 8:18 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to 315 Red Bud Ln. for a smoke detector activation. Firefighters arrived at 8:22 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The residence was aired out and the alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 8:34 p.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed six medical assists.
