County Jail

Twelve people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 7:24 p.m. David A. Galloway, 58, Rockville, was taken into custody on a warrant.

• At 2:14 p.m. Thomas C. Caldwell, 29, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail on a warrant.

• At 10:16 a.m. Samantha J. Gordon, 30, Quincy, was booked in for possession of cocaine, driving with an ACE of .15 or more, driving while intoxicated endangering a person, driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license.

Tuesday

• At 2:02 p.m. Joseph C. Rossetti Jr., 29, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for auto theft.

• At 11:37 a.m. Juan D. Johnson, 42, Indianapolis, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 11:36 a.m. Jared L. Hornaday, 31, Fillmore, was housed at the jail on a warrant.

Monday

• At 11:20 p.m. Zachary A. Nichols, 22, Cloverdale, was booked in for unlawful possession of a syringe.

• At 5:11 p.m. Richard C. Thompson, 25, Mooresville, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 4:16 p.m. Devin R. Willard, 32, Roachdale, was taken into custody for public intoxication.

• At 1:30 p.m. Anthony E. Sanders, 25, Oakwood, Ill., was housed at the jail for child molesting.

• At 9:48 a.m. William L. Matthews, 40, Reelsville, was booked in for resisting law enforcement and intimidation.

• At 9:14 a.. Sandra R. Sanchez, 33, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for possession of a controlled substance, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

--The Friday, March 26 Putnam Scanner contained an inaccurate entry.

Michael R. Runnells, 36, was booked in the Putnam County Jail on Wednesday, March 24 only on a warrant for failure to appear on a driving with a suspended license charge.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 1:33 p.m. on Saturday, Jennifer R. Rewerts, 38, Clayton, was westbound in an alley just north of Market Street in Cloverdale attempting to turn onto U.S. 231 in a 2016 Hyundai Veloster. Deborah M. Hennis, 62, Poland, was northbound in a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu.

As Rewerts proceeded onto U.S. 231, her car collided with Hennis’ car, which had to be towed.

Deputy Scott Ducker estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to three dispatches:

• At 12:59 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to Lucy Rowland Hall on DePauw University’s campus for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:01 a.m. and determined the alarm was due to burnt popcorn. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 1:07 a.m.

• At 11:46 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a reported structure fire at 1043 Avenue B. Firefighters arrived at 11:53 and were advised by police that a discarded cigarette had only burned a lattice attached to the porch. GFD went back into service at 12:03 p.m.

• At 4:10 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched for a report of smoke on Indiana Street. At 4:16, firefighters only found that dust was coming from a stack at Buzzi Unicem USA. GFD went back into service at 4:22 p.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed six medical assists.
