Battery incident reported at DePauw Nature Park

The DePauw University Police Department is investigating an incident involving assault at the DePauw Nature Park Thursday evening.

DePauw police shared with the campus community Friday morning that a non-campus visitor to the park had reported being assaulted by who has been described as a non-campus suspect.

Officers went to the location and spoke with the person who reported the incident. The person, who has not been named, described the suspect as a six-foot-tall white male with dark hair, green eyes, thick eyebrows, scruffy facial hair and wearing a Carhartt-style hoodie, dark jeans and tan boots.

“This investigation is currently in progress, as DePauw Police receives further details, the campus will be updated as appropriate,” the department stated in its message.

Anyone who has seen an individual matching the description of the suspect or has any further information about the incident is encouraged to contact the department at 765-658-5555.

DePauw police provided that the department is working with the Greencastle Police Department and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office on the investigation.
