Roger Dale Robinson

Friday, April 30, 2021

On Thursday, April 29, 2021, Roger Dale Robinson lost his battle with cancer at the age of 63 and gained his eternal home with Christ (2 Cor. 5:1-2).

Roger was born March 11, 1958 at Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle to John Rufus Robinson and Mollie Lorene (Scaggs) Robinson.

He graduated from Cascade High School in 1976 and met his wife, Tracy (Hampton) Robinson, and they married on May 3, 1980 at First Baptist Church in Greencastle.

Together they built a wonderful life, including their two children, Kathleen Ellen, born in 1984, and Jessica Ruth, born in 1987.

Roger worked as a welder for Great Dane Trailers and in inventory at Crown, but the majority of his career was spent as a railroad supervisor at Nucor Steel in Crawfordsville.

Roger had the ability to make anyone laugh. For many years Roger was active in his church and Promise Keepers. Roger loved to visit the beach, but his peaceful place was always the woods. He loved to deer hunt, pheasant hunt and fish. When he was not in the great outdoors or golfing, you could find him on his mower perfecting his lawn.

Late in life, Roger remarried Harolyn (Brothers) Robinson on June 9, 2020.

Roger is survived by his wife Harolyn; his eldest daughter, Kathleen Ellen (Robinson) Reinoehl (Seth and children Audrey, Emily and Theo) of Terre Haute; daughter Jessica Ruth Robinson of Sarasota, Fla.; stepchild Ericka Pfeifer; siblings Jimmy Robinson (Debbie), David Robinson (Vikki), Ronnie Robinson (Tracey), Janet Wood (Steve) and Patsy Hurrle (Jim); and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife Tracy Ellen (Hampton) Robinson on Nov. 4, 2018; father John Rufus Robinson on Sept. 27, 1963; his mother Mollie Lorene (Scaggs) Robinson on Nov. 7, 2001; and his brothers Larry Robinson and Jerry Robinson.

Visitation will be held at Hopkins-Rector in Greencastle on Monday, May 3 from 4-8 p.m. and a celebration of life on Tuesday, May 4 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will immediately follow at the Stilesville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the food pantry ministry of New Life Baptist Church, 51 Ridgeway St., Greencastle, IN 46135.
