The Greencastle Aquatic Center will not open as scheduled on Saturday, May 29. Instead, it will open on Monday, May 31.

At a special Park Board meeting Thursday night, Park Director Rod Weinschenk explained that he has 17 lifeguards hired for the season, and 13 of them would be unavailable Saturday or Sunday due to high school and college graduation ceremonies and family celebrations.

“We’ve elected that rather than fight it, we’ll give them Saturday and Sunday and open the pool on Monday,” Weinschenk said.

The pool will open for adult swim at 11 a.m. with open swim beginning at noon.

The Park Board has voted to keep the daily admission fee for ages five and over at $5, while youngsters age four and under are admitted free of charge. Twilight swim (5-7 p.m.) admission remains $3.
