Members of Greencastle American Legion Post 58 conduct a dignified disposal of unserviceable flags in honor of Flag Day Monday. Sergeant-at-arms Robert Cummins commits one such flag to the fire after orders from Post Commander Rod Gaffney, who pronounced that the flags had “reached their present state in a proper service of tribute, memory and love.” As Cummins placed the flags on the fire, Gaffney added, “Let these faded flags of our country be retired with respectful and honorable rites and their places taken by bright new flags.”

  • And the government for which she stands

    Is scandalized throughout the land

And she's getting threadbare and wearing thin

But she's in good shape for the shape she's in

'Cause she's been through the fire before

And I believe she can take a whole lot more
