Rep. Jim Baird

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Fourth District Indiana Congressman Jim Baird (R-Greencastle) and Sens. Todd Young (R-IN) and Mike Braun (R-IN) Tuesday introduced a resolution honoring the 125th anniversary of the Indiana Veterans Home.

“Since its inception, the Indiana Veterans Home has been a refuge for our heroes and their families, providing a standard of care worthy of their service to this nation,” Rep. Baird said. “For 125 years, the Indiana Veterans Home has proudly and faithfully served our Hoosier veterans, and I am honored to work with my colleagues and Sens. Young and Braun to recognize their service.”

“For over a century, the Indiana Veterans Home has provided Hoosier veterans and their families with the care and service they have earned,” Sen. Young said. “I am honored to join Sen. Braun and Congressman Baird to honor the 125th anniversary of the Indiana Veterans Home in West Lafayette.”

“The men and women who serve our nation and defend our values deserve the best care possible,” Sen. Braun said. “The Indiana Veterans’ Home has long been a cornerstone for veteran care in the Hoosier State and I am proud to recognize their 125 years of dedication to our military heroes and their families.”

Established during the Civil War, the Indiana Veterans Home, located in Indiana’s Fourth Congressional District, has provided care to Hoosier veterans for 125 years.

  • Truly no offense intended but, there will be time for this type of legislation later.

At this time in DC these Indiana representative's attention and ACTION should be focused on the major issues that are pressing down on the American people, now.

The Southern Border with Mexico is completely wide open!

The criminal cartels are in control of human trafficking and illegal drugs that are pouring into our country. Two million projected to crossover by the end of the year! Drugs are everywhere in small towns and cities alike because of the border breach!

This is going on everyday, this is a federal issue!

Where is the fight on this and other issues?

The GOP leadership is silent. They are not LEADING.

We need all of you from the Indiana delegation to represent us and fight the criminal cartels and those that benefit from all of this criminal money and activity.

BTW Why don't we know the who shot Ashley Babbit?

  • Ashley Babbit, the domestic terrorist? Who cares.

    -- Posted by BJCP96 on Wed, Jun 16, 2021, at 8:24 AM
  • Wow.

  • Ashley Babbitt was an Air Force VETERAN from San Diego.

She was unarmed and the only death caused by the Capital Police or any of the demonstrators at the U.S. Capital on 1-6-21.

The officer was never named or investigated further.

Her husband and family deserve a fair accounting of her shooting.

Safe to say seventy-one million MAGA voters would like to know why she was singled out too.

Indiana Reps, especially those that served, should be pressing for answers.

  • The shooting of Ms. Babbitt was investigated and the officer was cleared of wrongdoing. You probably need to take a break from Newsmax and OAN. Funny you failed to mention Rosanne Boyland, also.

  • No outrage of officer cleared! Hmmmm

-- Posted by beg on Thu, Jun 17, 2021, at 9:49 AM
  • *

The officer involved was faithfully discharging their sworn duty to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

  • Whew! Glad that's settled.

So happy to defer to your impeccable sources.

What is the name of that Capital Police officer again?

-- Posted by direstraits on Thu, Jun 17, 2021, at 10:18 AM
  • Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. You seem to forget this is all on video, hard to make your Newsmax/OAN nutty theories work when we can all see what happened with our own eyes.

  • I have never seen the news organizations that dire is being accused of getting his/ her news from but from the sound of things, they must be a biased source like CNN, MSNBC, FOX, networks, etc.

-- Posted by beg on Thu, Jun 17, 2021, at 10:56 AM
  • Officer's name?

Was it on the video? Missed it.

-- Posted by direstraits on Thu, Jun 17, 2021, at 10:58 AM
  • I saw in the John Sullivan video, (you know the BLM videographer pretending to be part of MAGA) the gun, in a hand, with a very distinctive bracelet on the wrist.

    Very identifiable Capital Police Officer.

    Who is it?

-- Posted by direstraits on Thu, Jun 17, 2021, at 11:43 AM
  • The US Capital police operate under longstanding rules and regulations set by Congress. These rules and regulations often differ from other police agencies. One regulation that does differ us the requirement to identify police officers involved in fatal shootings. It’s really as simple as that.

Also there is very little in life as laughable as trying to tie BLM to the events of Jan. 6. Almost as laughable as the stolen election, lol.

  • Rules and Regulations don't govern capital offenses.

    Laws, thankfully do.

You, can't tell me the name of the shooter either.

-- Posted by direstraits on Thu, Jun 17, 2021, at 5:27 PM
  • Rules and regulations govern police department procedures, which I addressed above. The Capital Police Department is not required to ID officers involved in fatal shootings. So they didn’t, mostly concerned for that officers safety. Seems pretty logical to me.

-- Posted by Koios on Thu, Jun 17, 2021, at 6:06 PM
  • Yeah, it's totally logical. I don't know what I was thinking.

Thirty-five year old woman (seventeen in the Air Force)

    probably weighed 125lbs

    UNARMED

walked right into the open Capital

actually looks like she is standing near a fully geared Capital security team

She was ready for a fight alright!

  • Here is the video of the shooting.

  • I enjoy watching liberal/ leftists defend law enforcement. It is very refreshing.

-- Posted by beg on Thu, Jun 17, 2021, at 10:58 PM
  • I back law enforcement, 100%. It’s sad the folks that stormed the Capital did not. But keep getting fed “fake news”, and keep on the false narrative being fed to you. It is what is it is.

-- Posted by Koios on Thu, Jun 17, 2021, at 11:35 PM
  • I have quit watching CNN so no longer getting fed fake news. (lol). BTW, I don't support 1/6 on any level. I never said I did. It was not a good day. I am not one that supports violence when it supports my political beliefs. It is wrong and I call it wrong. I wish other political bents would take a similar approach. It is what it is.

-- Posted by beg on Fri, Jun 18, 2021, at 9:13 AM
  • I, too, enjoy watching the liberals/leftists support police and law enforcement. Unfortunately, such support is becoming increasingly rare and is often hypocritical or virtue signaling, at best.

  • I enjoy watching QAnon followers rant and rave about a stolen election, as they anxiously await Trumps reinstatement in August, watching Sydney Powell on OAN in the meantime.

  • Koios,

I am not sure where you are coming from as none of the above is true as it relates to myself. I understand, though, that liberal/ leftist theology involves name calling, shaming even if not the truth, and deflecting from real issues.

I am saddened that we are unable to have a legit back and forth. I will respect that and no longer respond directly so we don't go down a road that makes no sense.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

  • That comment wasn’t directed at you, it was just a general observation.

MAGA theology also involves name calling, shaming even if not the truth, and deflecting from real issues. So I’m not sure what you meant by that. It’s just modern politics, I suppose.

-- Posted by Koios on Fri, Jun 18, 2021, at 1:26 PM
  • beg with the name calling BS again. Give it a rest. You throw out that liberal/leftist garbage all the time. Just based on the fact you are so obsessed with this liberal/leftest crap tells me you are 100% a OAN/Newsmax watcher, you're not fooling anyone.

    -- Posted by BJCP96 on Fri, Jun 18, 2021, at 10:33 PM
  • Surprised this conversation is still going on.

Just need to say here if anyone is getting ALL their info from any major mass media outlets you are being fed a narrative they want to peddle. They all have there own motives, mostly about money and power over the news cycle. When they lie, they lie by omission or commission. It's still lying.

When they advocate canceling a different voice its censorship. Not good for freedom.

Do your own homework and dig down on the issues.
