Robert E. O’Neal

Robert E. O’Neal, 72, of Farmersburg, passed away at 7:35 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021 in Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care, Terre Haute.

He was born Dec. 14, 1948 in Greencastle to Marion E. O’Neal and Francis (Higgins) O’Neal.

Survivors include his wife, Joanna D. O’Neal of Farmersburg, whom he married on June 22, 2019; daughter Misty Holcomb of Wasilla, Alaska, and Laurie Anne O’Neal Walker of Greencastle; grandchildren Elley Lane and Cody Walker; brother Gerald O’Neal of Brownsburg; sisters Janice Jackman of Greencastle and Karen Rosson of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Charles O’Neal.

He graduated from Greencastle High School and was a 12-year veteran of the U.S. Army – 38th Infantry and served in Vietnam and received a Purple Heart for his bravery. He was a truck driver after being discharged from the military.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home, 218 S. Meridian St., Jasonville.

Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 26 at the funeral home. Services are Saturday with Cindy Buskirk officiating.

Interment will be at Peavey Cemetery in Howesville with military graveside rites.
