James Edward White, 75, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021 surrounded by his family.

Born Jan. 1, 1946 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Raymond A. and Beulah P. (Reddy) White.

Jim was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War.

He was a machinist at Peerless Pump in Indianapolis, retiring in 2009. After retirement he had worked at Soapy Joe’s Car Wash, Greencastle, Labco, Mooresville, and loved working at the Michele and Neil Irwin farm, taking care of their four horses.

Jim always worked hard to take care of his family. He loved to be outside and with his dogs, Shasta and Kyra.

Jim is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley Jean (LaVullis) White; children Renee Crooks (husband Jeff), Tammy Campos (husband Mickey), Rodney White (wife Susan) and Leah A. White; sister Sandra Melton; brother-in-law Al Waltz; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jerry Lee White; and sisters Billie Pauline Hardman, Joann Moore and Shirley Waltz.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friend from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
