Spay/neuter vouchers available Friday
The Humane Society of Putnam County provides a limited number of spay/neuter vouchers to residents of Putnam County each month that are worth $100 to offset the cost of having a dog or cat spayed or neutered.
These vouchers also pay up to $20 for a rabies vaccination.
Since Jan. 1, 2021, the Humane Society has paid $10,057 to assist pet owners in preventing unwanted kittens or puppies. With these funds, 69 cats and 24 dogs were spayed or neutered.
Spay/neuter vouchers will be distributed again at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 2 at Rescued Treasures Thrift Store, 1021 Indianapolis Rd.
The Humane Society of Putnam County also operates a free TNR program (trap, neuter, release) to residents of Putnam County aimed at reducing the number of feral kittens being born in the county. So far this year, 20 feral cats have been spayed or neutered.
