Samuel ‘Sam’ Alexander Whitaker

Samuel “Sam” Alexander Whitaker, 19, of Roachdale, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021.

He was born in Indianapolis on Feb. 28, 2002 to Terry L. Whitaker Jr. and Marcile White.

Samuel attended North Putnam High School.

He was a hard worker and had many different skills. He enjoyed volunteering around the community in various capacities. He recently returned from Panama Beach, Fla., where he had worked at Captain Anderson’s Marina on a fishing boat for several months. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, watching sunsets and spending time with his family and friends, especially his fiancé.

He is survived by his parents, Terry L. and Mandi Whitaker Jr. and Marcile and Gary White; fiancée Kaylea Newgent; brothers Timothy, Kevin, Zach, Kaleb, Jakobe (Jake) and Raymond Whitaker; sisters Kristyn Whitaker, Kristy Krsulic, Cassie Krsulic, Krystiana White and Christine White; grandparents James and Joette Ideman, Terry L. Whitaker Sr., Chris and Paula Busenbark Jr., David and Mary White and Shirley Aljaafreh; great-great-grandmother Patricia Ann Jones; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and one niece and many nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Rickie A. Johnson; grandmother Constance Jean White; great-grandmother Alletta Korsak; and two cousins, Katelyn Ideman and Madison Ideman.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 6 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 8350 State Road 236, North Salem, with Pastor John Dimmick officiating. Burial will follow in New Maysville Cemetery. There will be a pitch-in dinner at the Roachdale Community Center following committal at the cemetery.
