MONROVIA – Nightly ramp closures will begin on or after Tuesday, Aug. 10 at the Interstate 70 and State Road 39 interchange (Exit 59), the Indiana Department of Transportation has announced.

The project involves placing the top layer of asphalt on the ramps. The times below are estimates due to the fact the asphalt will need time to cool until it can hold traffic.

The schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, Aug. 10 from 9 p.m.- midnight, closing the I-70 eastbound exit ramp

Wednesday, Aug. 11 from 12:01 a.m.-3 a.m., closing the I-70 eastbound on ramp

Wednesday, Aug. 11 from 9 p.m.-midnight, closing the I-70 westbound exit ramp

Thursday, Aug. 12 from 12:01 a.m.-3 a.m., closing the I-70 westbound on ramp

Milestone Contractors LP was awarded the $16.2 million contract. The project will redesign the interchange to a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI).

The interchange modification project is being built to add traffic capacity and relieve congestion for the current and future needs as development expands in the area.

The project is scheduled for completion Oct. 15.
