Robert Tyler Miles, 33, passed away on Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Tyler is survived by his wife, Monica Miles; his children, Connor, Drew, Lauren and their unborn child, all of Indianapolis; his parents, Robert “Kell” and Tammy Miles, of North Salem;  his brother Tanner Miles (Zoe McDaniel) of Lafayette; his father- and mother-in-law, Gary and Mary Owen of Indianapolis; sister-in-law Emily Owen (Brantley Heath) of Indianapolis;  his maternal grandparents, Charles Robert “Bob” and Nancy Curran of Bainbridge; paternal grandparents Robert “Bob” and Donna Mae Miles of Coatesville; and many aunts, uncles and cousins who all adored Tyler.

Tyler was born on June 24, 1988 in Greencastle.

He graduated from Tri-West High School in 2007 and dominated on the soccer field through his senior year. He graduated from Ball State University in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in communications. Following college, he briefly worked at the Indiana State House before beginning his own business as a self-employed real estate appraiser.

He married his soulmate Monica (Owen) in Brownsburg in 2012 and they built a beautiful life together. He was the definition of the perfect husband — loving, selfless and always putting his family first.  He never met a stranger and if you were one of his wife’s friends, you were his friend too. He coached countless soccer teams and enjoyed grilling out, golfing, camping and playing games with his kids. He was a man who always did more than he was asked, loved his wife faithfully, and cherished every moment with his family. They were his greatest treasures.

Tyler was a great family man and a loving father. Described by his children as the “King of the Dad Jokes,” they want everyone to know that he was sweet, nice, helpful, funny, kind and serious when he needed to be. They say he was the best kind of dad you could ever want and that being a good dad was important to him.

Tyler was a jokester beyond compare and was always up for an adventure. His quick wit left friends and family in tears more times than they could count. Tyler always had a hug and a “love you” for the people he cared about. He had a big heart, always looking out for the underdog. He left his mark on this world, touching many lives, and his beautiful smile and bright eyes will never be forgotten.

A funeral is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 15 at Connection Pointe Christian Church in Brownsburg. Visitation will be from 2:30-5:30 p.m. with the service beginning at 5:30. Burial will follow at Brownsburg Cemetery at 7 p.m. Steve Reeves will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tyler’s life. Conkle Funeral Home is being entrusted with arrangements.

The family appreciates every prayer, encouraging word, and act of love in the recent days.
