Voices of Recovery event set Saturday

The annual Voices of Recovery kickoff event for National Recovery Month in September will be Saturday, Aug. 28 at Robe-Ann Park, Greencastle.

Open to the public, the event will feature speakers, testimonies of those in active recovery, musical entertainment and children’s activities.

The program celebrates those in recovery and is designed to educate and offer awareness to those who are still fighting addiction, remember those who have been lost and help end the stigma of addiction.

Participants can learn new ideas and gather information from a variety of organizations which support recovery efforts for Putnam County, as well as get connected to resources and service providers.

Informational tables scheduled include Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PAL), Mental Health America of Putnam County, Cummins Behavioral Health and Family Support Services of West Central Indiana, among others.

The event will start at 1 p.m. with music by Terry Pepple and his band. Testimony will be given by Greg Sanders and Overdose Lifeline founder Justin Phillips. Darlene West-Heier will speak about PAL, and Greencastle Assistant Police Chief Brian Hopkins will also share his stories.

The Putnam County Recovery Coalition is coordinating this event with Putnam County Hospital serving as the main sponsor.
