I-70 eastbound on ramp from State Road 267 will close Friday

PLAINFIELD – Putnam County drivers are advised that Interstate 70 eastbound on ramp from State Road 267 will be closed for construction on or after Friday, Aug. 27 after 9 p.m., the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced.

The official detour for the ramp closure follows Quaker Boulevard in Plainfield to U.S. 40 to I-465 to I-70 eastbound. The closure is due to be completed before Christmas Eve.

On or after Saturday, Aug. 28 traffic will be shifted into the westbound side of the interstate with three lanes for westbound and two lanes for eastbound travel. It is scheduled for a 120-day closure with an incentive for the contractor to complete earlier. The max incentive is 60 days.

Milestone Contractors was awarded the $43.9 million project that will rebuild the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-70 from a half-mile west of SR 267 to Ronald Reagan Parkway and patch the interstate from just west of SR. 267 to SR 39.

The westbound lanes were rebuilt last year with the eastbound lanes construction occurring this year. The project is scheduled for completion in early summer of 2022.

INDOT encourages drivers to slow down, exercise caution and drive distraction-free through all work zones.
