Brenda Joyce Bowman, 71, of Cloverdale, gained her angel wings on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021, while surrounded by loving family at her residence.

She was one of eight children born to the late Thomas Bruce and Joan Delores (McCartney) Suter. Her life began on Sunday, Oct. 30, 1949, in Kokomo.

Brenda spent her childhood in Martinsville, Ind., moving to Bloomington and Indianapolis for a short time before relocating in Cloverdale, where she spent her adult life.

On June 18, 1966, she married Loren Ray Bowman. He preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 2008. The two shared more than 42 years of love and were gifted with eight beloved children. She dedicated her life to her family, never missing an opportunity to attend family functions.

No stranger to hard work, Brenda spent many years working as a manager in the food industry, working as a data processor at UPS in Indianapolis and Terre Haute, and eventually driving for Cluster Truck in Indianapolis.

She was a lifelong member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn and a proud member of the Covered Bridge Harmony Choir.

She had a love for music, especially singing, archery, bowling, crocheting, knitting and traveling.

She is survived by a host of loving family and friends including five sons, Loren (wife Julie) Bowman Jr. of Illinois, Timothy (wife Jennifer) Bowman of Indianapolis, Nathanael (wife Angela) Bowman of Florida, Jarrod (wife Shannon) Bowman of Avon, and Bradley Bowman of Cloverdale; two daughters, Kimberly (husband Walter) Koch of New Jersey and Heather (husband Travis) Nees of Cloverdale; three brothers, Bill, John and Chris Suter all of Indiana; two sisters, Belinda Bowman of Indiana and Betty Newman of Texas; 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Along with her husband and parents, Brenda was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Bowman; one brother, Thomas Suter Jr; one sister, Beverly Norris and one granddaughter.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, Oct. 17 from 3-5 p.m. at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville. Brother Dusty Langley will conduct a service celebrating Brenda’s life beginning immediately following the visitation at 5 p.m. She will be laid to rest on Monday, Oct. 18 following a graveside service at 11 a.m. in Liberty Cemetery in Gosport.
