MEADVILLE, PA. — DePauw totaled over 500 yards of offense and the Tigers scored the game’s first 35 points on the way to a 38-14 North Coast Athletic Conference win at Allegheny. The Tigers moved to 6-1 overall and 6-0 in the NCAC, while the Gators dropped to 2-5 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

The Tigers’ defense recorded a three-and-out on the game’s opening series and the offense took over on its own 31, but DePauw turned the ball over on downs at the Allegheny 5. DePauw forced another punt and this time converted it into a score as quarterback Chase Andries connected with Jaylon Smith for a 41-yard score on the fourth play of the drive.

Andries and Shaw teamed again for a 13-yard score with 5:09 remaining in the half to push the lead to 21-0.

DePauw linebacker Daniel Rafeedie stopped the Gators’ best scoring chance late in the half as he picked off Jack Johnson at the DePauw 22.

Gus Baumgartner picked up 23 yards on the first play of the second half before Andries connected with Gabe Quigley for 11 yards and Drew Moore rushed for eight. Andries then called his own number and ran it in for a 33-yard score to make it 28-0 just 1:37 into the third.

Baumgartner’s 27-yard run with 5:45 remaining in the third pushed the lead to 35-0 before the Gators reached paydirt with 10:45 left in the fourth on Trevor Brncic’s 33-yard pass to Moses Snell Jr.

Jack Drake wrapped up DePauw’s scoring with a career-long 45-yard field goal with 6:09 left.
