Rose Marie Buis

Rose Marie (Hadley) Buis, 92, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 30 at Hendricks County Regional Hospital.

Rose was born on Oct. 4, 1929, in Hall, Ind., and grew up on the family farm with her parents Mabel and Thomas Hadley and three sisters, Francis, Mary and Ruth.

She graduated from Monrovia High School in 1947.

Rose lived in Belle Union before moving to Greencastle in 1966.

Rose was elected and served two terms as Putnam County recorder, worked for several years at the Putnam County Hospital and area medical offices.

When she was not working Rose loved playing the piano, working in the yard, and spending time with her family and friends.

She was a member of the Eminence Christian Church.

Rose is survived by a sister, Ruth Cox (Bill), Mooresville; three sons, Mike, Eminence, Tom (Peggy) Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Jeff (Gena), Eminence; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Washington, D.C., Andrew, Washington, D.C.; and Logan (Taylor), Avon; and three great-grandchildren Briggs, Remy and Baker, Avon; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Tom Hadley, her former husband, Lloyd; two sisters, Francis Rhea and Mary Wacker; and a granddaughter, Meaghan Buis of Eminence.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale, and graveside services will be held Thursday, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. at Hall Cemetery in Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Rose.
