• At 1:59 a.m. on Sunday, Robert O. Massing, 23, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 725 East in a 1998 Honda Civic.

Soilleux reported it appeared that Massing fell asleep while driving home and woke up in the ditch.

The car left the west side of the road and struck the cement end of a bridge, resulting in heavy front-end damage and an injury to Massing.

Massing complained of all-over pain, with the worst being in his back, wrist and ankles.

He was transported to the hospital for his injuries.

The car was towed. Soilleux estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

• At 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, Jeri A. Gardner, 32, Greencastle, was eastbound on County Road 300 South approaching. U.S. 231 in a 2020 Honda Insight when she hit a deer.

Deputy Patrick estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 5:02 p.m. on Saturday, Parker T. Duncan, 16, Indianapolis, was eastbound on Interstate 70 in a 2005 Nissan Sentra when he looked down at his GPS and drove off the north side of the road.

Schiffender never regained control, resulting in it spinning and hitting the center median.

Matthew D. Schiffender, 41, Fort Wayne, was following in a 202 Ford Escort. When the other vehicle left the road and came back, it hit his car.

Duncan told Deputy Soilleux that Shiffender was following too closely.

Duncan’s vehicle was towed. Soilleux estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

• At 2 a.m. on Saturday, Austin D. Carroll, 19, Clayton, was northbound on County Road 25 East in a 2006 Pontiac G6 when he drove off the east side of the road and hit the guardrail.

Carroll told Deputy Robert Soilleux the roads were slippery and he wasn’t paying attention.

Soilleux estimate damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 5:23 p.m. on Friday, Tyler L. Shoemaker, 34, Danville, was traveling on State Road 240 in a 2010 Dodge Ram. Jared B. Smith, 34, Danville, was approaching in a 2011 Ford F-150.

Both drivers told Deputy Patrick their driver’s side mirrors touched.

• At 7:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26, Tiffany L. Moore, 37, Greencastle, was westbound on County Road 125 South in a 2016 GMC Acadia when she hit a deer.

• At 5:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26, Evan M. White, 28, Poland, was southbound on County Road 500 West approaching a hillcrest in a 2008 Ford F-750 bucket truck registered to Gradex Transportation, Carmel.

White told Reserve Deputy Ken Rozelle he moved as far right as he could to make room for any possible oncoming traffic.

In doing so, the dual rear axle dropped off the edge of the road, causing the bucket boom to make contact with a utility pole. This caused a 50-pound motor that operates the bucket to fall off onto the opposite side of the road.

Afterward. Michael B. Cooper, 43, Cloverdale, was northbound in a 2012 Ford Focus. He noticed the motor in the roadway but could not avoid striking it.

Rozelle estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 6:22 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, Wesley N. January, 30, Greencastle, was turning northbound onto County Road 445 West from eastbound U.S. 40 in a 2015 Subaru XT. Scott C. Clampitt, 30, Rosedale, was westbound in a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. Kimberly H. Howard, 47, Terre Haute, was stopped southbound on 445 West in a 2020 Dodge Ram Van.

January told Deputy Randy Patrick it was his fault, that he was not paying attention and turned into the path of Clampitt’s vehicle.

Clampitt did not have time to react and broadsided January’s vehicle, which spun and made contact with Howard’s stopped van.

Clampitt reported left leg pain, but was seen by Putnam County EMS medics and released. No one else was injured.

Both January’s and Clampitt’s vehicles were towed.

Patrick estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.
