A Greencastle man tapped as a suspect in the recent stabbing incident at the Walmart Supercenter has been arrested in Vigo County.

Greencastle Police Asst. Chief Brian Hopkins reported to the Banner Graphic Thursday morning that Dane Archer, 40, Greencastle, was taken into custody Wednesday evening.

Apparently arrested in Vigo County, Archer was booked into the Vigo County Jail in Terre Haute on several drug charges.

Archer has not been charged in the stabbing as of Thursday, but Hopkins relayed to the Banner Graphic Wednesday that GPD was seeking assistance in locating him in connection to it.

No details about the arrest itself have been shared as of noon Thursday.

Greencastle police were dispatched to the Walmart parking lot in reference to the stabbing at about 10 p.m. Sunday.

The patient, who has yet to be identified, was transported by ambulance to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. The Greencastle Fire Department also responded and assisted at the scene with patient care.

Hopkins stated to the Banner Graphic on Monday that it was believed the stabbing was an isolated incident.

Greencastle Police Det. Matt Huffman is the investigating officer.

  • Who among you on this thread have never made a mistake?

-- Posted by donantonio on Fri, Nov 19, 2021, at 7:03 PM
  • Stabbing someone and then fleeing the scene is not a mistake, it’s a willful act.

  • There is no reasoning with some of you here. Koios must be a stabbing whisperer.

  • Was the stabbing random, or was it related to drugs? Does anyone know?

  • POSH--ask Koios, he seems to know everything about the case.

  • Stabbing someone and then fleeing the scene is not a mistake, it’s a willful act. I’ll stand by the that.

  • Koios should change his moniker to "Perry Mason" unless he is too young to know what I am talking about.

  • Good Lord it’s not that confusing, you don’t need to be Perry Mason. Person stabbed another person and fled the scene. No need to run if it was a “mistake”.

  • Koios--Mr. Know-it-all.

  • Don, speaking of know-it-all, how is it you adjudge so many crimes as “mistakes”, yet assume a mother who died in a traffic accident was texting and therefore responsible? Pick a side.

  • techphcy--you are comparing apples to oranges. It never came out that she was or wasn't texting while driving.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

  • Donny: your retorts remind me of my grade school days! "know-it-all", "put that in your pipe and smoke it". I'm still waiting for "I know you are but what am I?" It's always you against the world, have you ever considered you may be a little off?
