A Greencastle man tapped as a suspect in the recent stabbing incident at the Walmart Supercenter has been arrested in Vigo County.
Greencastle Police Asst. Chief Brian Hopkins reported to the Banner Graphic Thursday morning that Dane Archer, 40, Greencastle, was taken into custody Wednesday evening.
Apparently arrested in Vigo County, Archer was booked into the Vigo County Jail in Terre Haute on several drug charges.
Archer has not been charged in the stabbing as of Thursday, but Hopkins relayed to the Banner Graphic Wednesday that GPD was seeking assistance in locating him in connection to it.
No details about the arrest itself have been shared as of noon Thursday.
Greencastle police were dispatched to the Walmart parking lot in reference to the stabbing at about 10 p.m. Sunday.
The patient, who has yet to be identified, was transported by ambulance to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. The Greencastle Fire Department also responded and assisted at the scene with patient care.
Hopkins stated to the Banner Graphic on Monday that it was believed the stabbing was an isolated incident.
