Evelyn Pauline Whitaker

Evelyn Pauline Whitaker, 87, of Roachdale, went to her heavenly home on the morning of Nov. 24, 2021.

She was born on Dec. 31, 1933 to the late William Herbert and Eva Everman Goode in Newman, Ill.

Evelyn worked in health care as a home health aide most of her life. She was a member of the Roachdale Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, watching game shows, westerns with her dog and best friend Petey and playing cards. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and will be missed by many.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Tina Gurney, Ora (Kara) Smith and Tammy Doyle; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several distant siblings; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her siblings, Doris Wiles and Thomas Goode; and her children Harold, Mark, and Herbert Walters.

A celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held on Monday, Nov. 29 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Roachdale Baptist Church, 10 N. Lonoke St., Roachdale. The family will lay her to rest privately in Fairview Cemetery in North Salem.
