Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies investigated four recent property-damage crashes.

• At 6:40 p.m. on Friday, Benjamin A. Monnett, 17, Greencastle, was southbound on County Road 25 West in a 2011 Mercury Mariner when he hit a deer.

Reserve Deputy Joe Tesmer estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 7:50 p.m. on Thursday, Daniel V. Rader, 71, Greencastle, was northbound on State Road 243 in a 2004 Toyota Sienna when he hit a deer.

The vehicle sustained heavy damage and had to be towed.

Deputy Daniel Birt estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 7:18 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 23, William J. Routh, 20, Gosport, was southbound on U.S. 231 attempting to turn east onto County Road 1300 South in a 2013 Chrysler 200.

Both Routh and his passenger told Deputy Robert Soilleux that a large truck was northbound on U.S. 231 approaching the intersection, signaling that it was going to turn east as well. Routh noted a break in the traffic behind the truck and decided to turn east as well.

However, they said the truck began to turn east before suddenly turning and merging back into traffic on U.S. 231.

Routh said that this forced him to drive into the ditch, as he had to avoid the truck but also could not stop or he would have been T-boned by northbound traffic.

The car was towed. Deputy Robert Soilleux estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 23, Linda L. Butrum, 77, Coatesville, was parking her 2012 Honda CRV in the driveway at 475 Mill Springs.

Butrum was wearing a medical boot at the time, which caused her to accidentally accelerate, striking the garage door at the residence, almost knocking it all the way down.

The vehicle also struck a pair of parked vehicles, a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox registered to Judith Rozelle of Coatesville and a 2018 Nissan NV2 registered to Ashley Brown of Lafayette.
